Board of Directors
On behalf of the board of directors of DARS, Inc., it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our website. We are excited about our programming and the overall growth in our opportunities to serve the youth entrusted into our care.
When I joined the board in 1992, our services were limited in both the therapeutic and academic milieus, ultimately the result of limited space to expand services. There was no Supervised Independent Living program, no accredited school, and no campus. The young men were housed in a dormitory setting with ten boys to a room and our classrooms were located in multipurpose rooms within the facility. Oh, how we have changed and enhanced our services to better meet the needs of our youth. We currently operate two DDAP licensed programs, Manos House and Supervised Independent Living Program, as well as a PA Department of Education licensed academic school, Prospect Grove High School.
All three programs are located on a beautiful 12 acre campus a short distance from Lancaster and York Counties. This campus has been a catalyst for growth in all three programs. Mostly notably witnessed in our ability to enhance our services through dedicated therapy and academic space, specialized approaches including Aggression Replacement Training, recreational outlets including both a dedicated music recording studio and art room , as well as client living accommodations.
There remains a highly individualized approach to these services, which allows for all staff to meet clients where they are in the change process. Our approach of creating a holistic treatment experience allows for a foundation for change to begin, ultimately resulting in positive outcomes.
As the board president, I am especially proud of our dedicated staff. Everyone employed by the corporation takes a keen, personal interest in the young men who reside with us. They offer a structured yet compassionate approach that fosters personal reflection, accountability, and self-worth necessary to address presenting and underlying issues inflicted upon our young men.
Please, don’t just take my word for it. Come for a tour. I promise you will be impressed.
